Generation Kill Full Rebuttal

I am editing again after three years. Having served myself I know that original thought does not run rampant among enlisted. The bulk of a young GI's patter consists of cut and paste phrases he or she thought sounded cool at the time. Same kind of data gets passed on as fact when it gets repeated enough times. That is where my brother and Evan Wright differed the most in the fact vs. fiction argument.

Below is where the 2006 post starts.

Me again- the brother of the mythical Casey Kasem, real life Dan Griego USMC retired. The rebuttal has been removed after a three year run. In a nutshell, Dan disagreed with Mr. Wright's portrayal of the facts as presented and pulled no punches in addressing them. In the case of Doc-literally. Another story there for another time.

One of this details that arose when I spoke with my brother about this was the Sgt. Major's grooming standard tic: my brother said the actual point he would harp on was the length of their sideburns. He would regularly yelp out, "Y'all look like a bunch of Elvises". Apparently they couldn't use that in the mini-series.
