James Eddie Wright and the Dodger Dog Day

Eddie Wright and a group of Iraq Veterans got a chance to be honored at Dodger Stadium yesterday prior to the 14 inning loss to the Rockies . It was 5:00 PM or so when I got a call from my brother, one of those on the field.

"I am in the dugout, just talked with Grady Little" said my brother. He then asked me who I thought he should have sign the ball they'd given him.

"Jeff Kent is as close to a Hall of Famer as you'll see out there-try him" I replied.

"I'll call you back, here comes Brad Penny" says Dan.

A few moments later he called back to say that Valor, Eddie Wright's dog had taken Jeff Kent's mitt up the third base line and began gnawing on it. A tug of war ensued where Kent finally retrieved his glove from the retiever. Kent joked to Eddie, "If I make an error today you know whose fault it is."
Overall he said he was able to speak to Andre Ethier more than any other. Luis Gonzales connected because they were the same age. Juan Pierre stopped by as did Matt Kemp and Russell Martin. Pretty cool afternoon for some of our guys.

Here's a validation of the story from the Los Angeles Times.
